FAI Ballooning Commission meets in Rome

The 2022 meeting of the FAI Ballooning Commission (CIA) was held in Rome, Italy in March. It was a very successful in-person meeting after 2 years of virtual meetings.
In about a fortnight the 5th FAI Paragliding Championship will launch in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is one of the most famous Brazilian paragliding destinations. During the last 20 years, about 20% of all Paragliding cross country Category 2 championships took place in Valadares. Basically, it means that they had an event there almost every year. It will be a very remarkable event - for the first time in the history of the Pan-American Championships, there will be no guest pilots.

The FAI Ballooning Commission (CIA) is very excited to announce the launch of the new FAI Hot Air Balloon World Ranking List. The new FAI Hot Air Balloon World Ranking List (WRL) was developed, in conjunction with WatchMeFly, to create a better way for the World Rankings to be updated more frequently.

The latest version of the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods has been published by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
It is updated at least annually and is published on WADA’s website in October and comes into force on 1 January. The official text is published by WADA in English and French.

The CIVL Plenary has awarded the 2nd FAI Asian-Oceanic Paragliding Championships to be held in Mungyeong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Republic of Korea. The event will be held in the middle of June 2024) exact dates are to be defined later. The event is organised by Korea Paragliding Association(KPGA) with the support of Federation of Korea Aeronautics (NAC).
