IPPI Card: Cuba

Date of submission or update:
4 March 2022

Is the IPPI card accepted in your country?

YES. Pilots must also be familiar with the Cuban Aeronautical Regulations (RAC6III) established by the Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Cuba and Know the Authorized Flight Zones established in AIP to navigate safely in the National Airspace System.

While IPPI Stage 5 may allow pilots to fly cross-country in other countries, in Cuba pilots MUST fly only in authorized zones.

What is the minimum legal requirement coverage required in your country?

There is no legal minimum requirement. However, Civil and Criminal Law applies. In case of property damage, the culprit will be responsible for paying the damages. Our search and rescue service is free for Cuban citizens and permanent resident foreigners, provided by the Cuban Government.

What additional coverage does your country recommend (such as medical insurance, search and rescue etc...) ?

We recommend having medical insurance, as well as search and rescue.

Is your NAC prepared to provide special insurance coverage for guest pilots who do not comply with your national law ?

We currently do not provide any type of insurance coverage. Currently, there are no foreign insurance companies based in Cuba. We have no information on which ones provide coverage in the territory of Cuba in case of accidents.
