Pan American 2022 - weather is changing

The morning started with a concern about the weather - a cold front is approaching with a high probability of rains in the south-southwest of Governador Valadares. The coming of the front can also cause high turbulence and undesirable wind behavior. That is why a rather conservative task was sent to the east from the take-off - 79 km zigzag along the river valley. The start was scheduled at 12:00. But the fears were in vain. Valadares again unpredictably showed a very nice flying weather. The pilot went all the way along the optimized route. Just stopping from time to time to get a thermal. On live tracking, it looked like a big color caterpillar crawled from turn point to turn point. But in fact, the pilots were flying at a speed of up to 50-60 km/h. The US team did their best to win. 4-6 US pilots were the first to cross the ESS line but the leading points of Brazilians were better.

110 landed at goal. Javier Galves from Chile broke his foot on the unsuccessful landing. He was immediately brought to the hospital.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, shall be the decisive task. We will be broadcasting live from take-off to give you a glimpse of what is going on.
