Tuesday 8th November 2016

Here in the USA today is the day the populace go to the polls and elect their new President - here at Zephyrhills, Florida it is another day of blue skies and stunning competition.

Yesterday evening there had been a protest made on behalf of the Swiss Team's 4th round jump, which was discussed and considered by the Jury and a re-jump awarded.    This morning they were the first team to jump before the 5th round was jumped.

INSTANT  RESULTS

The Jury notices are given in the article below and on the Documents/Events/.. pages of this web site.

After their rejump the Swiss Team altered their score from 113 to 229.  Now they have completed round 6 but we are awaiting the results - at the end of round 5 the three teams who are leading are still USA1 and USA2 with Finland hanging in there in third but now the Russians are only 10 points behind.

We are holding publication of the results for Round 7, even though they are going to be judged in reverse order because the Swiss team, due to their re-jump are about fifteen minutes behind the other teams - and they are only 3 points above the UK at the end of round 6.

So everyone is waiting - the Swiss have just taken off, meanwhile Sammy of Skydive-tv is also on tenderhooks - he built his own wingsuit back in the 1990's - and he has brought it with him to this competition, where he wants to do a piece on Skydive-tv about the development of this aspect of our sport and of course, the suits themselves.  One of the experienced wingsuiters is up now, jumping his suit, wearing the recording devices so that Sammy will have an actual record of how his suit performs.  Watch the future episode to see how it all went.

Judges Panel

Gathering at the DZ TV

13.00 hrs   The judges have just gone in to judge the last jump of the last round of this 1st World Cup in Wingsuit Acrobatic Flying - which will be immediately followed by the Competitors meeting.

It was another productive Competitors meeting with a lot of good input from the competitors for the committee to take away and discuss further.  During the meeting the final results came through.  So we have USA 1, are the Gold medal winners, USA 2, Silver medalists and the Russian team captured the Bronze medal on the very last jump putting Finland into 4th place.  The UK beat Switzerland in the final standings and moved to 5th place with the Swiss in 6th.  South Africa finished in 7th place and the USA3 bookended the whole competition in 8th.

HOWEVER - A  LAST MINUTE PROTEST HAS BEEN HANDED IN BY FINLAND it is now being considered by the Jury.

The Jury decided that it was not a protest, but a request, and they found there were no grounds for a protest.  The final scores stand.

Tomorrow afternoon at 17.00 hrs we have the Awards Ceremony and prize giving, followed by the Closing Banquet at 18.00 hrs.
