Day 2: 10th World Canopy Piloting Championships & 4th World Canopy Piloting Freestyle Championships
The second and final training day of the 10th FAI World Canopy Piloting Championships & 4th FAI World Canopy Piloting Freestyle Championships was a huge success. The weather was beautiful, and competitors trained in Speed, Distance and Freestyle, with back to back loads running the entire out of two planes operating.
Skydive Pretoria hosted the Opening Ceremony, marking the event OPEN! We heard remarks from Ange Sharman, our MC, Sonic, and Christopher Koekemoer who read the pledge.
“In the name of all competitors, I promise that we shall take part in this Competition, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of the sport.”
The jury came forward and announced the Championships open and ready to compete.
The competition will kick off first thing Wednesday morning at 7am.
Forty-nine competitors from 19 nations will vie for the prestigious title of Canopy Piloting World Champion, while 39 will battle for the Canopy Piloting Freestyle Champion crown.
