Day 2: 26 August 2014
The colourful Opening Ceremony on the airfield had its usual mix of speeches from the invited dignatories, with the 350 competitors from 25 countries lined up behind their respective country's flags. A rousing finale in the form of a group of cheerleaders performing their routine on stage soon prompted audience participation with the competitors dancing along with their own interpretation. Three giant 'sparklers' accompanied the raising of the FAI and host's flags to the familiar FAI anthem.
The technical meeting that followed once again highlighted various aspects relating to safety and notably aircraft exit procedures, in order to ensure jumpers landed on the airfield. The all important FS draw was as follows:

It was feared that this morning's weather forecast wouldn't make for competition conditions and they were correct. Rain and low cloud has 4-Way Open and 4-Way Female stood down till 14.00hrs, whilst all other disciplines are released until tomorrow.

Patience finally paid off as all three L-410 Turbolets took to the skies and by dusk 4-Way Open and 4-Way Female had completed one Round.
