TWG2022: Airsports competitions start today!
The World Games 2022 has started! A magnificent opening ceremony in Birmingham, Alabama, USA on 7 July saw music, dancing and displays performed for sports fans at the sold out Protective Stadium. Athletes entered waving their flags and were warmly received by the audience.

Saturday 9 July is the first day in the schedule for air sports competitions featured at The World Games 2022. Canopy piloting begins at 08:15 local time at the Barber Motor Sports Park, and drone racing starts at 13:30 at the Protective Stadium. Representatives from the FAI Commisisons CIAM and ISC are in Birmingham to support the competitors.
CIAM President Antonis Papadopoulos commented : “It is a great honour for CIAM to be part of this prestigious multi sports event and we are very proud that an activity such as Drone Sport together with Skydiving will represent airsports and FAI. We wish the organisers, officials, athletes and all other participants a successful and exciting competition.”
The official sites are for streaming are The World Games 2022 website and the Olympic Channel although planning does not currently show air sports on the streaming schedule. Results will be published on the TWG website and also on the FAI mini site.
