Vrchlaby Para-Ski World Cup Series Final, Day 2

Today was a busy day with Skiing before noon followed by 3 rounds of Accuracy Landing.

In skiing the HSV Red Bull Team members from Austria, Sebastian Graser in the male and Magdalena Schwertl in the female classification kept up to expectations. Sebastian took the lead with the two fastest runs and 5 seconds ahead of Reinold Haibel (GER), and 6 seconds ahead of his Red Bull Team mate Toni Gruber. Magdalena finished the race three seconds ahead of Julia Schosser (AUT) and 13 seconds ahead of Erika Franz (SUI).

Official ski results are given below.

After the Skiing was finished, Franz Singraber printed the unofficial ski team results which were used in reverse order for the accuracy competition that was scheduled to start at 2pm on a different ski slope.

Franz and the judges were then busy with preparing the target area and setting up the Accuracy Landing electronic scoring system; all was ready to start on time so the competition jumps commenced after Martin Gabla had scored the first dead centre of the day on the wind drift indicator load.

After two rounds the championship is valid so there will be an official classification here in Vrchlaby and also the 2018 World Cup Series will have a valid overall ranking.

The Meet Director used the excellent weather conditions, with wind below the limit, and completed three rounds of Accuracy Landing very close to sunset. Jumping was not easy, but this is to be expected when the target is on top of a ski slope with changing winds and incoming weather changing onto a target with a 30 degrees inclination.

The unofficial team classification after 2 rounds of Giant Slalom and 3 rounds Accuracy Landing kept HSV Red Bull Salzburg in the lead with 267 points, 79 centimeter ahead of Russia “Solar Wind” (346) and 82 cm ahead of the host nation team Czech A (380 points).

Also in the individual interim ranking the favorites held their top position, Magdalena Schwertl with 77 points is 16cm in front of Julia Schosser(AUT) (93) and Mynářová Michaela(CZE) (103).
Sebastian Graser ended the day with a total of only 7 points in front of Reinhold Haibel(GER) (38) and current FAI World record holder Marco Valente(ITA) (39).

At 7pm the official dinner was attended by tired but happy organizers, and competitors who will relax together with their friends of the Para-Ski family and then an early night in order to be ready for the remaining 3 rounds of Accuracy Landing scheduled for the morning with the first take-off 09:30.

(Unofficial result lists are given below (but be aware that the factor 0,32 is used and just in case no more rounds would be jumped, the ski points would be divided by 50%.)
