Message of sympathy to Indonesian earthquake paraglider victims of Sulawesi tsunami
FAI President Frits Brink has written to Chepy Nasution, the Secretary General of the Air Sports Federation of Indonesia, to express his sorrow at the loss of life during the tsunami earthquake, and to express his sympathy on behalf of the Federation regarding the missing paragliding pilots who were taking part in a competition in Palu, Sulawesi.
Frits' letter expressed sympathies to the pilots' loved ones, saying:
"On behalf of our organisation, I wish to extend our heartfelt compassion to the families and friends of the paragliders whose lives were taken by the tsunami. Our deepest sympathies go out to those pilots who were taking part in the cross country competition at the time of the disaster, but most especially to those whose lives were lost. Fellow air sports amateurs and professionals will, I am sure, join me in expressing solidarity for the missing pilots and sending sincere condolences to their loved ones at this challenging time."
Although not involved in the organisation of the event, the FAI wishes to express public support to the global paragliding and air sports communities for the tragic loss of their members. We remain in hope that those still missing are found safe.
