Fierce Competition Unfolds at 2024 FAI F3F World Championship for Model Gliders

Update - Friday 11 October

Yesterday, at the 2024 FAI F3F World Championship for Model Gliders, the weather conditions at the slope of St. Ferriol were ideal, and 6 full rounds of flying were completed. That means the competition is now on round 13, and with two more days of flying, more rounds will likely be added. The weather forecast for Friday is not so promising, but optimism remains.

The difference in scores among the top pilots is very small, and with the few more rounds which will follow, the ranking may change. The same applies to the team standings.

On Wednesday evening, all the participants had the opportunity to gather together for the "Nations Night," where they had the chance to taste delicacies from all over the world and drink French wine offered by the sponsor of the event, "Sieur d'Arques".

The competition, which started on 6 October and is being held in Limoux, near Toulouse in southern France, will last until Saturday 12 October. Spectators and participants alike expect to watch spectacular flights and find out who will be the winners.

This championship features 56 competitors from 19 countries, showcasing their skills in piloting radio-controlled slope soaring gliders through a 1000m course divided into 10 legs, aiming for the fastest time possible.
