1981 Worlds Hang Gliding Class 1 and 2 Championship in Beppu, Japan
The Competition was held in Beppu Japan from 25 September till 12 October 1981.
Almost half the ll-day competition was non-flyable due to inclement weather, with only 7 rounds of competition flown in Class I and 6 rounds in Class II. The final two days produced four completed rounds.
The winners of the championship are:
Class 1
- Pedro Paulo Lopez (BRA)
- Richard Pfeiffer (USA)
- Graham Stater (GBR)
Class 2:
- Graeme Bird (NZL)
- Walter Lussi (SUI)
- Hang Poscher (AUT)
