The Czech Republic is gearing up to host the 20th European Aerobatic Championship at the end of August – and has won some high-level approval from inside the Czech government.

Bohuslav Sobotka, Prime Minister of Czech Republic, gave the competition his official seal of approval in February, with a letter to organisers. And in April the Minister of Education Youth and Sports added her approval too.

The competition will be held over one week from 20-27 August in Moravska Trebova, Czech Republic and preparations are well underway to welcome some of Europe’s best Aerobatic pilots to the venue.

In April the Aerobatic Box – the aerial stadium where pilots must perform – was marked out with the help of experts from the Czech Technical University in Prague to an accuracy of just 2cm per point! The box has also now been marked on the ground by tarpaulins.

After a week of training, the first competition flights will take place on 20 August, after an opening briefing. Pilots will then compete over a further six days, morning and afternoon. The final day, 27 August, will see the awards ceremony and an afternoon air show open to the public.
