About FAI

The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, FAI - The World Air Sports Federation, was founded in 1905. It is a non-governmental and non-profit making international organisation with the basic aim of furthering aeronautical and astronautical activities worldwide, ratifying world and continental records and coordinating the organisation of international competitions. It is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). FAI activities include the establishment of rules for the control and certification of world aeronautical and astronautical records. FAI establishes regulations for air sporting events which are organised by member countries throughout the world. FAI also promotes skill, proficiency and safety in aeronautics. FAI confers medals, diplomas and other awards to those who have contributed to the achievement of these aims as well as for work done in the restoration of old aircraft. In achieving these goals, FAI brings together people who take part in air sports from all over the world. They share the delight of gliding, the excitement of parachuting and ballooning, the fun of flying microlights and exercise their skill in aerobatics.

Position Summary    

FAI is currently improving the controlling in the finance area and is looking for a Finance Controller who can manage the Head Office (HO) and Sports operation budgets and expenses, develop efficient report to provide to the Executive Board, as well as the end-to-end lifecycle of all special projects.
In addition, the candidate will also perform various activities supporting the Head Office team such as administrative tasks, presentations, coordination of selected meetings and events and travel arrangements.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities   

Finance Controller

  • Control expenses and projects that are being held with the HO and Sports operations
  • Collaborate to Input the financial movements of HO and Sports operations
  • Production of budgets
  • Supervise and associate payments and publications of sporting events in the database
  • Monitoring of  special projects
  • Arrange meetings/calls with Finance team and Secretary General
  • Design, distribute and follow up event reports documentation
  • Develop quarterly reports FAI Secretary General and Executive Board
  • Identify improvement opportunities in both finance and process performance
  • Research and implement budget best practices
  • Support the Finance team in any additional activities and requirements that come up
  • Manage inventory and stock for internal control
  • Execute designated administrative tasks for the HO team in collaboration with all staff members

Skills and Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finances or Sports Administration
  • Master’s degree in Sports Management or similar is an asset
  • At least 5 years of experience as a finance controller and/or project manager in a sports federation or a top tier consulting firm
  • Fluent in English and one of the FAI official languages (French, Spanish, Russian) good knowledge of other languages is an advantage
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work alone autonomously and as part of a team
  • Source of proposals to improve processes and solving problems
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good knowledge of Financial Systems (Abacus, SAP)
